STEM to Read

STEM to Read is an early and pre-literacy program designed by the Explora! Museum and funded through a grant from the New Mexico Library Foundation. The program consists of activity trunks which are borrowed by public libraries from the State Library for a period of 6-8 weeks. Each trunk focuses on a component of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and is used to promote and support early and pre-literacy skills in children.

Each trunk contains 8-10 books, information and facts about the topic, lesson plans, and materials for activities (some materials will have to be provided by the library, such as water).

We ask that library staff provide parents/caregivers with surveys to complete after attending any programming with the activity trunk. Surveys can be found in the trunks or here.
