- Last Updated on 23 August 2022
The New Mexico State Library (NMSL) participates in the national Public Libraries Survey (PLS) conducted by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) with data collection support from the American Institutes for Research (AIR). Survey responses become part of a national file of public library data that is available to the library research community, state and federal policy makers, and other interested users. The information is often used by local, state, and federal agencies for planning, evaluating and budgeting. More information about the PLS can be found on the IMLS website.
- Recognized New Mexico public libraries complete and submit the PLS (a.k.a. Annual Report) to the NMSL reflecting financials, services, and acquisitions data based on the state fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).
- Surveys run from July 1 through mid-August and cover the previous fiscal year's activities.
- Data is collected in compliance with the 4.5.2 New Mexico Administrative Code and 4.5.8 New Mexico Administrative Code, which requires public & tribal public libraries to submit an annual report to participate in the state grants-in-aid program, state GO bond funds distribution, and other funding programs administered by the NMSL.
- Completing the annual report serves as the application for the state grants-in-aid program. Data from the survey is used to determine a recognized public library's state grants-in-aid eligibility.
- Surveys are completed online using Baker & Taylor's Bibliostat Collect (via https://collectconnect.baker-taylor.com/login.aspx).
- Username and password is available from the NMSL or from Bibliostat Collect Support 1-866-785-9935 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and remain the same each year.
