Magazines Online for YS Staff

E-mail Print

Magazines Online, the free Gale InfoTrac databases for NM libraries, include three databases especially for youth: Kids InfoBits for elementary students, Junior Edition for junior high students, and School Edition for high school students. These are great resources that you can use with your young patrons; they include articles and reference sources especially for the age groups of each database. Click here for a handout describing the resources that are available in each database.

Gale has recently created free online tutorials for each of these databases:

And there's a lot for library staff in Magazines Online, too! Magazines Online includes the Information Science & Library Issues database. It includes full-text of titles like:

  • American Libraries
  • School Library Journal
  • Teacher Librarian
  • Public Libraries
  • And much more!

Check out the Professional Collection and Educators databases, too. They contain education journals, including

  • High School Journal
  • Reading Today
  • The Reading Teacher
  • Childhood Education

All public, academic, and school libraries can receive Magazines Online for free from the State Library! Your library can provide access from your public access computers and your patrons can even access it from home.

Contact Mark Adams at the State Library at mark.adams@state.nm.us to set up Magazines Online at your library.
